How To Ask For More Money In An Interview - Avoid This Pitfall!. http://www.7figures.ninja – How To Ask For More Money In An Interview
As someone who’s worked as a hiring manager I can tell you exactly how to ask for more money in an interview. I’ve got two tips for how to ask for more money in an interview that you’re going to want to consider very carefully before putting yourself in an interview setting and making what I consider to be big mistakes!
Tips number 1 is, DO NOT ask for more money in an interview setting! This is actually a huge turn off. Just flat out don’t do it! That being said let’s get into the real meat and potatoes of the real secret to how to ask for more money in an interview with tip number 2.
Tip 2 is all about demonstrating value. If you just focus on the value you bring, the money part will work itself out. So how do you demonstrate your value? Most people in an interview answer nearly all of the questions asked in the context of “we.” At my last job we did this or we did that. Here’s how we would tackle that kind of problem or issue at my last company ABC. While you might be thinking this is good because it shows off skills like team work, what it doesn’t do is give the hiring manager a clear picture of exactly what YOU SPECIFICALLY are capable of and what value you could offer his or her team. If you always insert “I” into the answer. On this project we were tasked to BLANK and I was responsible for BLANK. What I did was BLANK. You get the idea now I’m sure. As simple as this sounds, I promise you hardly anyone actually does it in the interview (maybe because they’re nervous?).
If you heed my advice in tip 2 above, how to ask for more money in an interview becomes a moot point because the hiring manager will want you on their team so bad that when you actually do ask for more money during offer negotiation (the appropriate time to ask for more money in the first place) it will be a no brainer for them to increase their original offer.
All this being said if your main goal is purely to make more money and that’s why you want to interview for a new job I want to give you something else to strongly consider. A few years ago I too was looking for more money and I looked to the internet. I ended up running into someone highly successful who made more money in 1 month than I ever dreamed of making in a year and he let me copy what he was doing! The internet can be an amazing alternative to another job or a new job if what you’re after is purely the money and not so much the job part. Nothing beats the flexibility of working from home on your laptop in your pajamas for half the time you’d put into a job (1-3 hours is what I typically do).
